The Thursday Three #12

  1. Work in progress update: STEPHEN is highly enjoyable to write because two of my characters work well together and constantly entertain me. So when I open the Word document, I’m not thinking, I hope I can actually make progress today, it’s more like, Let’s find out what Maxine and Paul are up to!  Then I let the characters play.
  2. I had been wanting to read Atul Gawande’s The Checklist Manifesto for a long time, then it became “assigned” reading at my job, and I got a free copy. The power of a simple checklist is amazing, and I have been inspired to write out the steps that I follow while doing “simple” tasks… because there is inevitably something I forget. All that forgetting could be so easily avoided.
  3. An incredibly horrible song has been on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for 28 weeks now. “Watch Me” by Silento brought me some unpleasant flashbacks to 2007/2008, in which the obscene and nonsensical “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” song was an inescapable viral hit. To make matters worse, the Silento song pays homage to “Soulja Boy,” once again getting it stuck in my head.
