Ignoring Me

with our homeroom class
during the assembly,

to say about this whole “plague” business.

and the forest of legs on the bleachers,
I saw him.
When I sat beside him,
he turned to me with a nod,
then turned back.
I remembered how we met.
At an assembly.
Now it was like I had never
met him at all.
I said his name.
He didn’t answer.
