“Gary can defend himself
from Maddy,” I said.
“I don’t think so,” said Liz.
“She’s like a damn snake.
And Amanda’s the same way.
Look at her suck up to those
cheerleaders. Wannabe.”
We turned our gaze to the
popular girls’ table,
where Amanda practically sat
on Carrie Lawson’s lap.
Carrie was too nice
to turn her away, though.
Maybe she hoped that if
she paid no attention to
Amanda, she would get the hint
and leave.
Liz suddenly turned a shade
of green. “Pregnancy,” she mumbled.
“It’s not morning sickness.
It’s all-day-long sickness.”
She rushed to the bathroom.
