Sprint

A bead of sweat
dripped into my eye
and stung as it punished me
for daring to look
when I was supposed
to be forgetting Lindsey
and all her drama.
I blinked to clear my vision,
but by then
they were gone,
and I could no longer see them.
No matter where I ran on the track,
I could not see them.
After the run,
we trudged back to the locker room,
some of us defeated,
still panting.
I took a detour,
and sprinted with the last bits of energy
in my burning muscles,
to the storage building.
I have to know!
