I saw Lindsey at lunch and
mentally went over what I wanted to say to her.
(She lied to me.)
Anger filled me, dark and intense.
My eyes blurred as I stared at her
until I saw two of her.
Two Lindseys could more than destroy me.
(I can’t let her get away with it.)
I blinked my eyes clear.
She put on her innocent, pity-me face.
And it almost worked.
I almost pitied her.
(But I have to stand up for myself.)
With Gary’s words pulsing in my head
(Defeatist attitudes never won battles.),
I walked over to her.
