THE ARCHIVES: Chapter 99

I couldn’t take it anymore.
I had to see him.
So during lunch time,
I did something creepy,
something stalkerish.
I tried to find him.
The first place I looked
was the library.
Sure enough,
he was there, sitting by the window
overlooking the football field.
Sunlight slanted over his face.
He was bent over a book,
so he didn’t see me
until I called his name.
He looked up, smiled,
waved me over,
and I sat in the chair beside him.
I said the first stupid thing
that came to mind.
“I miss seeing you
in driver’s ed
all the time.”
