To Reclaim the Notebook
Instead of admitting my cowardice,
“Because they took it back from me
before I could rip it up.”
Lindsey sighed, drummed her nails against the railing,
“Want me to get it back?”
She must be kidding. That would be like
walking into a den of wolves.
Lindsey’s just a whole lot braver than
I could ever be.
Jealousy crawled over me and I clamped my hand
down on the railing to squash it.
I forced a smile to my lips and said,
“If you really want to.”
