Speak to Me
Although there was no need
to say anything, I still wanted
Lindsey to speak to me.
I waited to hear her whispered voice.
My heart thrummed with anxiety,
my hands quivered around the balcony railing,
a blush crept up my neck to my face.
I wanted to observe her every mannerism,
but I was too shy to do anything but
peek from the corner of my eye.
She tapped her bitten nails against the railing,
as if she was trying to drum up just one word,
one sentence to say to me.
I took a long breath in,
a long breath for us both.
