Lindsey stood on the balcony,
overlooking the picnic tables,
probably freezing in the cold.
The boy was nowhere to be seen.
I decided to take a chance.
Shoving the jealousy out of my mind,
I shoved open the doors to the balcony
and stood beside Lindsey.
She acted like she did not notice me at first.
Her lank hair fell over her face.
I told her hi.
I thought I saw a flash of a smile
and heard a barely audible whisper
It was good enough.
We stood there in silence
with no need to say anything.
