THE ARCHIVES: Chapter 44

Daydreaming

It snows so rarely here
that nobody paid attention in class.
Their eyes were glued to the weather report on TV,
and they hoped that the snow gets so bad,
school will be closed early
and they will get to go home.
I was looking out the window,
chin in my hand,
daydreaming.
…what if we got snowed in…
…and we had to stay at school all night?
…I’d find him…
…curl up in his arms…
…maybe we could stay like that…
…until spring…

But my daydream will not come true.
The buses arrived to take us home
before the snow got worse.
