Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of random ideas, and yesterday in the ten minutes before I left for work (That’s when I do my best brainstorming – at the last second; if I have three hours before work, I can’t think of a thing.) I decided to try and find ways to work all these ideas into the same story. I do that a lot because it makes my life easier; instead of having six ideas for four stories, it’s easier to try and make them all fit together, so it becomes six ideas for the same story.
But when I did that, I got an awesome idea that I’m quite excited about, and I’m going to use it for Camp NaNoWriMo next month. (Basically, Camp NaNoWriMo is exactly the same as regular NaNoWriMo, except that it occurs in June and August instead of in November – for people who would like to do the November challenge, but would rather do it in a month without a major holiday.)
What I wanted to do with this idea was use existing characters from two stories I had already written and have a little bit of a mash-up. Strangely enough, seeing The Avengers was part of what inspired me to do this. The other reason I wanted to was because I didn’t want to make a whole bunch of new characters. I know I’m going to have to come up with a few just to make the story work, but as long as I don’t have to create a whole new “cast” from scratch, I’m OK.
And as with most of the stories I write, the working title is going to be the name of a male biblical character, and it’ll probably have some biblical allegory. It might end up being JOSEPH or SAMSON. Not quite sure yet, but I’ll come up with something. And I have yet to decide whether I want Virginia or Rachel to be the main character… hmm…
