2011: Year in Blogging

So… a summary of my 2011 blog report reveals the following:

1. I made 246 posts in 2011.
2. The busiest day of the year was June 2.
3. The top five commenters on my blog were Nancy, Anthony, Rik, Vix, and M. Howalt. Thanks, guys!

And I also realized that according to my “Subscribe” widget, I have 425 followers. That number includes my Twitter followers, which is something like 330. I’m not sure I like the fact that WordPress includes Twitter followers, because they don’t necessarily follow or even look at my blog, but hey, it’s all good. It looks more impressive when someone visits my page, I suppose.

All in all, it was a good blogging year. I have nothing to complain about. I can only strive to do better and keep getting more pageviews, but as of right now I don’t really have any specific goals for how to accomplish that.

  1. Throughout the year I’ve followed your blog and found it to be interesting, informative and definitely inspirational. The quality of your posts are so high that I can freely admit that this is my favourite blog on the net. Thank you for all the help you gave me during 2011 both directly and indirectly through your posts. I would wish you good luck for 2012 but I know that with your devotion to your craft, you won’t need it!

  2. I’ve enjoyed your posts, Maggie. It’s impressive that you managed to write so much here while still focusing on your “more serious” writing endeavors.

    Write on!

  3. Well, you’re #1 on my “I wish I could give her a blog award” list (mostly because the only two blog awards I’ve received have come from you, and the rules say I can’t give them back to you ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

I look at my stats sometimes, and the page views are definitely not impressive. What I look at the most, though, is how long people spend at the site. If a bunch of people come and spend three seconds, that’s not so great. But if the people who do visit hang around for a minute or two (on average), that’s pretty cool.

    1. My pageviews have pretty much stayed around the same every month this past year… no improvement, but no un-improvement either, if that makes any sense. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Congrats Maggie, great stats and I look forwrad to more fab posts in 2012! And ooh thanks for the shout out, you’re high on my comment list too so mutual high five ๐Ÿ™‚
