This shall be my last post of the year! And what a great year 2011 has been! I have managed to complete most of my resolutions for this year, and those were:
1. Revise the novels (or at least get a really good head start on each one).
2. Finish The Archives.
3. Write 1 poem per day.
3.5. Revise 1 poem per week.
4. Read at least 52 books this year.
5. Win NaNoWriMo again!
6. Write 1 blog per weekday.
The only resolutions I didn’t stick with were numbers 3 and 3.5, mostly because revision was taking up a lot of my time and sucking my creative well dry. Poetry just wasn’t coming to me, nor was it giving me the same degree of joy that my novels were.
A lovely calico cat joined our family in February. She helps me write. 🙂
My best friend and I went on an epic overnight trip to a new city in February.
In April, one of my good friends from church passed away. Her spirit continues to inspire me.
I went out on countless job interviews, sent out tons of resumes and cover letters, made many phone calls, then finally got a job in August. It’s not the type of job I particularly wanted, but I do believe God put me there for a reason, and I’m doing my best to “bloom where I’ve been planted.”
My beloved Pekingese passed away in July.
My family rescued a Shih Tzu from a puppy mill in October. She’s still a little shy, but she’s one of the prettiest dogs I’ve ever seen.
In October, I made peace with an old friend. It was so nice to finally meet up, talk about old times, and get everything straightened out.
I got my very first cell phone in November. It’s a good little gadget.
There were many other things that happened, both good and bad. The main thing I’ve learned this year (this may seem very elementary) is that your outlook on your life and your current situation determines a lot. If you’ve got a positive outlook, you will see things (even the negative things) as working out for the best. If you have a negative outlook, you’ll believe that everything and everyone is conspiring against you. In other words, be optimistic!
Thank you all so much for reading my blog this year and for your insightful comments! It’s all very much appreciated, and I wish you the best of health and good fortune in the year to come!
