Today’s Prompt: A character who you can relate to the most
I have no choice but to cite another children’s book. I can relate quite well to the title character in Roald Dahl’s Matilda, but not because I had evil parents. Because I love to read and because in school I was often referred to as “that smart, quiet girl.” One kid in my class even said I reminded her of Matilda. I was flattered.
Matilda also has a devious streak – she uses her superior intelligence and sense of humor to baffle her nitwit parents. Despite her rather cruel upbringing, she’s a very kind character as well. She rescues her beloved teacher from her own rather poisonous relatives… and like almost every good children’s book and fairy tale, she lives happily ever after.
If you know any young kids, tell them to read this book – and watch the movie, too!
