This shall be a post in which I get a little nostalgic…
It’s amazing how fast a year goes by. My blog’s anniversary is tomorrow. I originally wanted this blog as a way to record my life after graduating college. I wanted it to be career-focused, but more or less like an online diary. But it became more than that. About a month after I started the blog, I decided I no longer wanted my life online anymore. Instead, I decided to write about things that would interest others, and because I’m obsessed with writing and reading, why not make those two things the focus?
The first non-spam comment I ever got on this blog was rude and quite disheartening. But instead of curling up in a ball and crying about it, I kept writing. I revamped my blog and decided to post every weekday. I read a few books and articles about blogging and learned more about what can make a blog successful or not.
In September 2010, I was Freshly Pressed, so it felt as if my work on this blog had paid off. But it wasn’t just getting Freshly Pressed that made everything worthwhile. It was the thoughtful comments I was getting, finding others who have similar interests, learning how to write for the web, and having smart conversations online. Thank you very much to all who regularly visit and comment on this blog – it means so much to me! 🙂
I check my site stats every day, and whether I get one hit or a hundred hits, I’m happy with this blog and what I’ve learned by sharing it. It’s my favorite “online hangout.”
