Cool Website – oneword.com

OneWord

For those of you out there who need a way to write every day, here’s a simple one. OneWord is a user-friendly site that allows you to write for 60 seconds on a one-word prompt.

I created an account, clicked the “go” button, and was faced with a blank screen and the word “wrong.” The cursor’s already in place, so all you need to do is start typing the first thing that comes to mind related to the prompt. It’s a little like word association.

Of course, like most sites out there these days, OneWord tries to have a bit of a social networking component to it. You can add people as friends, connect your profile to Facebook, start groups, invite people to your groups, and there’s a little status box that you can fill with whatever you wish.

The website is clean – purple and white are the main colors. It’s laid out nicely and is pretty fast. It’s similar to sites like Plinky, 100Words, and One Page Per Day.

If you need a quick jump start on your writing, OneWord is the way to go. Sixty seconds isn’t a long time, and if you’re a fast typer, you can get a fairly decent amount of words.

Try it out and let me know what you think!

  1. I tried it out a few weeks ago. I posted a comment on the word “Siren” before creating an account, then posted a few more times, but I haven’t really been back in a while. I just don’t really bother with it anymore.
    Maybe I should get back into it…

  2. Lol. Now I’m trying to find a reason to get my family to start shopping Wal-Mart–they hate that store!

    1. I don’t really like Wal-Mart either, but it’s like the main attraction in my town. I’ve got no choice but to go there, haha!

  3. I feel sorry for you then. I’m not a fan of the store either, but at least I’ve got options.

    I wish I could find Pocky at Meijer–we do our shopping there every week!

    1. My only other options are Food Lion and Lowes Foods, but you can’t get as much there for as little money as you can at Wal-Mart. There aren’t any Meijers where I live.

  4. No Meijers? Now I really feel sorry for you! I’ve never heard of those stores you mentioned though. Kinda makes me wanna do some research!

  5. This seems cool.

    pocky = yum!

    I hate walmart. it is really the only game in town here unless you go to the 2 grocery stores (Food Lion is one of them) or to small businesses. I try to do the small businesses when I can or just go to Food Lion. I can count the number of times I have been to Walmart in the past 7 or 8 years on one hand. Most of those times were not my idea and I was talked into it.

    1. I’d honestly rather go to WalMart than Food Lion – probably because you can get more things at WalMart than you can at Food Lion and the gas station’s right nearby. Thank you for subscribing and commenting, Katie! 🙂
