NaNoWriMo Post #2

My grand total so far: 3,467. What’s yours?

I know some people out there who have gotten insanely high word counts already. (I’ve seen someone with over 10,000!)

For some most, we have trouble trying to carve out enough time in the day to write. Between work, church, volunteering, housekeeping, school, taking care of kids, pets, aging parents, wild teenagers, etc. it seems like hours can fly by like milliseconds.

Melting Clock

If you haven’t already, grab your calendar and try to clear out some days. Try for Saturdays or Sundays – whenever you know you’re typically the least busy. Plan to do double or triple word counts on those days so that you’ve got a good buffer for days when you might fall behind.

Tell your parents, co-workers, wife, husband, kids, pets that you’re working on your novel and you need peace and quiet. Get someone to babysit the kids for a few hours while you nail that word count! Lock yourself in your closet with nothing but a laptop and some ideas and get to it!

If you feel like your time’s just melting away, try to hammer it down. If you can’t empty an entire day, try for just a few hours here and there. Even just half-hours at a time can make the difference.

Refuse to give up! Plunge ahead! Update that word count! I’m rooting for you – along with the rest of the NaNo crowd!

Thanks for reading and have a great day! 🙂
