Ever since April of 2009, I’ve done my best to have a yes-I-can attitude about things, even when it gets hard to keep up that mindset. I’ve decided that I’m not going to let anything get me down.

In the real world, there are going to be all kinds of pitfalls, rejections, and disappointments. I want to be stronger so I can face these challenges and grow a tough hide. (God knows I’ll need it in the publishing world!)

Here’s some random notes and things you can try so that life doesn’t get you down.

Never put yourself down.
Never allow others to put you down.
There’s a difference between constructive criticism and total negativity.
Keep positive people around you.
Take walks.
If you believe in a higher power, pray.
Don’t try to please everyone all at once. It’s impossible and you’ll only get more frustrated.
Keep a journal.
Pet animals!
Listen to your favorite music.
Get a good night’s sleep.
Count your blessings.
Talk to someone you love.

I know these are all clichés, but I’ve found that they work. Different things may work at different times, but there’s always something you can do to pull yourself out of a bad time and keep your self-esteem afloat.

Don’t mope, keep up the hope!

(Wow, that was corny!)
